Description

Red Velvet Smoothie featuring almond milk, dark sweeet cherries, strawberries, dates, cocoa powder, cashews, and vanilla extract. The perfect balance of vanilla and chocolate flavor packed with nourshing ingredients. 


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk, plus more as needed (I like unsweetened almond milk)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (or cacao powder)
  • 12 medjool dates, pits removed (Note 1)
  • 1 tablespoon cashews (Note 2)
  • 1/2 cup frozen cherries (I like dark sweet cherries)
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries

Optional Mix-Ins

  • 1 big handful of baby spinach
  • 1 scoop protein powder (I like vanilla or chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender in this order: milk, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, medjool date, cashews, optional mix-ins, frozen cherries, and frozen strawberries.
  2. Blend until creamy and smooth, adding more milk as needed.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy. Tastes best when fresh.

Notes

  1. Dates – If you’re not using a high-powered blender, soak the date in hot water for 10-20 minutes to soften it. If you don’t have dates, you can substitute with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup or honey.
  2. Cashews – If you’re not using a high-powered blender, soak the cashews in hot water for 10-20 minutes to soften it. If you don’t have cashews, you can substitute with 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, or hemp seeds.
