Description
These Air Fryer Chicken Wings are super crispy with blistered skin and a tender, juicy center. They’re tossed in a savoy dry rub seasoning and come together in just 25 minutes. They achieve a deep crunch without the mess of deep-frying. There’s no marinating time required, which makes them the perfect game day snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 20 chicken wingettes and drumettes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Instructions
- Make the dry seasoning. In a small bowl, add the kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, oregano, basil, thyme, freshly ground black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and baking powder. Mix until combined.
- Prep the chicken wings. Use a paper towel to pat the chicken wings dry. This will help the seasoning stick to the chicken wings better so they can get nice and crispy in the air fryer. Add the wings to a large bowl and toss them with the dry seasoning until they’re evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. My air fryer takes 3 minutes to preheat. Once the air fryer has preheated, place the seasoned chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer. (You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer). Cook the wings for 15 to 22 minutes, flipping once halfway through, or until crisp and cooked through. (My air fryer takes 22 minutes).
- Serve. Enjoy as is, tossed in your favorite wing sauce, or with your favorite dipping sauce. We like my homemade ranch dip.
Notes
- Leftover chicken wings can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat leftover chicken wings in the air fryer. Use the reheat setting (if available) or preheat the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 3 to 6 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- The baking powder helps create a super crispy skin on the chicken wings without deep frying them in oil.
